Twelve trustees — current parents, alumni, and community members — are the legal and strategic guardians of BPD Academy. The Board holds the mission, approves the budget, sets tuition, oversees long-range planning, and hires (and if necessary, releases) the Head of School.
Trustees are elected by the Board itself to staggered three-year terms. The Board meets five times a year; committee work runs year-round. A faculty-elected trustee sits (non-voting) at every meeting so faculty perspective is always in the room.
Officers are elected annually from among the sitting trustees.

Full-board meetings are held in the Heritage Hall Boardroom at 6:30 PM, preceded at 5:00 PM by committee meetings. The calendar follows the academic year — one meeting each fall, annual, mid-year, strategic-review, and spring.
Draft minutes are circulated to trustees within ten business days and are archived on BoardEffect. Current families may request a meeting summary through the Head of School’s office.
The Governance Committee reviews prospective trustees on a rolling basis. We recruit for specific skill sets each year — legal, financial, educational, advancement, and community representation — as seats rotate. Current parents, alumni, and community members who believe they can contribute are invited to share a letter of interest and a CV with the Committee Chair.
