Meet the Class of 2030: New Faces in Lower School

Thirty-eight new kindergartners joined the Class of 2030 this fall — one of the largest Lower School entering cohorts in a decade. In their first week, Mrs. Li, the kindergarten lead, asked each of them a single question during morning meeting: What is something you are good at, and something you would like to be good at?

A few of the answers, shared with family permission and attributed only as "a kindergartner said":

“I am good at catching worms after it rains. I would like to be good at reading chapter books without any pictures.”

“I’m good at telling my sister what to do. I would like to be good at the monkey bars.”

“I am good at remembering jokes. I would like to be good at making my dad laugh at my jokes.”

“I am not good at sitting still but I am trying. I am good at building a fort on the couch.”

The Lower School this year has 194 students across PreK through Grade 4, with a student-teacher ratio of 7:1 in the primary grades. The Class of 2030 will graduate from BPD Academy in the spring of 2038.

Admissions for fall 2027–28 opens on September 1. Families interested in the Lower School can schedule a half-day visit.
