Meet the Class of 2030: New Faces in Lower School

Thirty-eight new kindergartners joined the Class of 2030 this fall , one of the largest Lower School entering cohorts in a decade. In their first week, Mrs. Li, the kindergarten lead, asked each of them a single question during morning meeting: What is something you are good at, and something you would like to be good at?

A few of the answers, shared with family permission and attributed only as "a kindergartner said":

“I am good at catching worms after it rains. I would like to be good at reading chapter books without any pictures.”

“I’m good at telling my sister what to do. I would like to be good at the monkey bars.”

“I am good at remembering jokes. I would like to be good at making my dad laugh at my jokes.”

“I am not good at sitting still but I am trying. I am good at building a fort on the couch.”

The Lower School this year has 194 students across PreK through Grade 4, with a student-teacher ratio of 7:1 in the primary grades. The Class of 2030 will graduate from BPD Academy in the spring of 2038.

Admissions for fall 2027-28 opens on September 1. Families interested in the Lower School can schedule a half-day visit.
