A 2-1 overtime win over Haverford Friends on Saturday punched BPD Academy’s ticket to the State Independent Schools tournament for the first time since 2018. The deciding goal, in the fourth minute of the first overtime, came from senior co-captain Yasmin Reyes ’26 off a set piece that Coach Dominic Hollis admitted afterward had been drilled every Tuesday practice for eight weeks.
“That is not a lucky goal,” Hollis said. “That is a goal we put into the ground in November. It took until February to grow.”
The Beacons finished the regular season 13–3–2 in a notoriously tough inter-academic league. The tournament opens next Saturday at Widener University’s athletic complex; BPD draws Episcopal in the first round.
A family bus will leave the Athletic Center at 8:00 AM for families traveling with the team. RSVP through the Athletics Office by Thursday.
